This is the mile-long(1.6km) route through the Old City of Jerusalem, leading from the Antonia Fortress, where Jesus was condemned by Pontius Pilate, to Golgotha(Calvary, 갈보리), the place of the crucifixion.
The Via Dolorosa (Way of the Cross) is marked by 14 Stations and most stations are located in Moslem quarter. At each Station there is a chapel or marker depicting an incident in Jesus's final mortal journey.
The traditional site of Golgotha-Calvary is the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Some Christian denominations consider the Garden Tomb, outside the current Old City walls, to be the true site of Golgotha-Calvary.

Church of St. Anne

Location : Old City(Muslim quarter), Jerusalem
Affiliation : Roman Catholic
Country : Israel
Completed : 1138

The actual Church of St. Anne followed sometime between 1131 and 1138, during the reign of Queen Melisende. It was erected near the remains of the Byzantine basilica, over the site of a grotto believed by the Crusaders to be the childhood home of the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus. It is dedicated to Anna and Joachim, the parents of St. Mary, who according to tradition lived here.

Byzantine basilica was built over the remains of the shrine in the 5th century. Partially destroyed by the Persians in 614, it was subsequently restored.

Unlike many other Crusader churches, St. Anne's was not destroyed after Salah ad-Din's 1187 conquest of Jerusalem. In 1192 Salah ad-Din converted the building into a Madrasa(Islamic educational institution), known as al-Madrasa as Salahiyya(of Saladin), as is still written in the Arabic inscription above the entrance.
In 1856, in gratitude for French support during the Crimean War, the Ottoman Sultan Abdulmecid I presented it to Napoleon III. It was subsuquently restored, but the majority of what remains today is original.

Pool of Bethesda

It is associated with healing. Until the 19th century, there was no evidence outside of John's Gospel for the existence of this pool.
In the 19th century, archaeologists discovered the remains of a pool fitting the descriptino in John's Gospel.

Chapel of Adam
Beneath the Calvary and the two chapels there, on the main floor, there is the Chapel of Adam. According to tradition, Jesus was crucified over the place where Adam's skull was buried. According to some, at the crucifixion, the blood of Christ ran down the cross and through the rocks to fill the skull of Adam. The Rock of Calvary appears cracked through a window on the altar wall, with the crack traditionally claimed to be caused by the earthquake that occurred when Jesus died on the cross, while some scholars claim it to be the result of quarrying against a natural flaw in the rock.
